I recently watched the Greatest Showman film and was so inspired by it I had to write a blog about it and share with you what inspired me that I think will empower business owners and entrepreneurs too.
The top lessons I took away from the film were as follows;
When life knocks you down in your career & business & gives you setbacks it’s not time to give up but to remember what’s important to you.
As a business owner myself and entrepreneur I have faced many challenging seasons and setbacks and I found in these times I learnt so much and gave me an opportunity to revaluate my business and goals and refocus on what’s important.
Pride comes before a fall
As a business owner I have often found like in the film, just when you think you are on top of the world and all the stars have aligned that you take a breath and feel proud and you are kicking all the goals and then challenges kick in again and you go the complete opposite way and have the worst sales month after that or staff leave all at once or funding cuts to your clients recruitment budget. So never get too comfortable even in the good times.
Prioritise your loved ones
One thing I also saw from this film is that while climbing the ladder of success in business we must not forget our WHY and WHO we are doing this for? If we don’t make time to be present with our close friends and family then why are we doing it? Cherish those around you today.
Behind every successful business owner is a cheer squad
I have found this to be so true I seriously couldn’t do all I do without my cheer squad like my staff, family, friends & mentors. It takes a village to cheer you on to be a success so don’t just look at the person in the spotlight and think they did it on their own as they often had a cheer squad behind them.
What’s important Friendship, love, joy and a job you adore!
Near the end of the film it was clear after the Greatest Showman lost everything, he had that what was really important was Friendship, love, joy and your dream job. I’m so glad that I have all those things in my life.
When you’re ready to give up your resilience is challenged & a chance to rethink how to work smarter and have a better comeback than you ever imagined.
As some of you know in 2016 and early 2018, I went through some scary times in business where I was at a crossroads. Each time I could have given up and closed my business but instead I used it as a chance to stop what I was doing re group and work smarter not harder & both times I had the biggest comebacks you can ever imagine. So, if you are experiencing hard times in business, don’t let it get you down, regroup and learn what you need to, so you can have the best comeback not even your cheer squad will be expecting.
I hope this inspires you as it did me and lets DREAM BIG for 2019 & NEVER Give up!
