In life, we can go through low seasons or have tough weeks at work where things don’t work out the way we planned and that can leave us wondering why are we going through this? Why are we given all these challenges and how can we overcome them?I recently had a few difficult weeks in a business where I’ve worked on many brilliant job seekers who for various reasons, didn’t get the job. It was a real let down to the team as we spent hours working with these people in helping them secure their dream jobs. For them not to get these jobs was a great disappointment to everyone involved. It got me thinking “when life gives you lemons we need to make lemonade” and turn things around. Some things I’ve done during this time to help me turn my lemons into lemonade:Take some time out for self-care – it is hard when you spend all your energy, passion, time & funds running a business, when setbacks like this happen, to not to take it personally. So, I made some time over the weekend for a massage and looked after my wellbeing. I also went to the gym to de-stress and that always helps.Talk to a friend or family member – Sometimes the best therapy is talking to your friends and family about your disappointments and how you are feeling and let off some steamSpend time working out a new plan of attack to turn your situation around – get out a journal and map out your goals, what your new focus will be and how you will tackle itNew week – a fresh start – Turn last week’s lemons into lemonade and kick goals you have set out to achieve. Your situation WILL improve! This is a valuable lesson I’m teaching my daughter Emma as she grows up, that no matter what happens in life “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!”
