I often get asked; how I manage to run a growing business, be a mum, a wife, a friend and work on my health and wellbeing too? I also get asked how I have achieved all I have for someone my age. Being a young woman in leadership is not exactly the easiest path but it is a path I have always wanted to follow and now I am living my dream and always striving to be better. If you knew my history, you would see how capable I am if I put my mind to something. I went to 8 schools growing up and was bullied from the age of 7 at school. I ended up leaving school after year 10 due to the severity of it and went to TAFE to study childcare. I undertook certificates and diplomas although I never completed a University degree. Instead I worked full time in childcare from the age of 17 and worked my way up to Team Leader level by the age of 22. It was then that I slipped a disc in my lower back falling at work and I was told by doctors that I couldn’t lift kids everyday if I want to get my back stronger!I was heartbroken that I could no longer do what I loved anymore, so I explored where I could use the skills I developed working with children but not be physically working with kids every day. This is when I found education recruitment and started in office support and worked my way up. This was not always easy either as I got made redundant three times in 18 months during the 2008-2010 recession in the UK where I was living at the time. When I moved back to Australia I was given an opportunity to recruit Social Workers which I found extremely rewarding as I would be essentially helping the most disadvantaged people in society. I found a passion for recruiting Child Protection Social Workers to the outback in the Northern Territory and then my passion grew for recruiting social workers for non-for-profit organisations in other states too.I started to dream about my future and what I could do with the skills I had developed to that point in my life. I started talking with my husband about having my own recruitment agency and how I could build a team culture where we would look out for one another and promote a positive work environment. A business where I could donate a percent of our profits to help charities and build a future that I’m proud of for my family. That is how TaylorCare began in 2013.As you can see I had the odds against me in so many seasons of my life but I learnt from the low times and built a future better than my past. I’ve worked so hard over the past 4.5 years in business building TaylorCare with many personal struggles and triumphs along the way. I can honestly say through the long hours, sacrifice, tears and endless passion I have got my business to a point where I am excited for the future to grow and expand.Dare to dream for your future and take actions towards it today!
Don’t let your past determine your future!
