On the 16th of October 2019 TaylorCare sponsored the annual Fivers 4 Survivors Day for the Freedom Hub. We were excited to see the idea take off again this year and raise awareness for the issue of human trafficking that is occurring in Australia. We had over 25 people join us at the Just Co office to be a part of the event, with a fantastic spread of food catered by the Freedom Hub café and gift bags from TaylorCare for each guest. My vision was to host a Brunch and Learn event in Sydney CBD and it was exciting to see the idea come to fruition on the day.We were hosted by Yasmin Dale from Indeed and Kat Miller and I presented. We talked about future proofing your career, the power of your personal brand, staying up to date with technology and how having a growth mindset is key to long term success with the recruitment industry.Sally Irwin, founder of the Freedom Hub, spoke next on the reality and impact of modern-day slavery and how it is not just happening in other countries but Australia as well. Over 15,000 have been identified already in Australia and it is believed for everyone person identified there are five more not yet identified. Every 30 seconds someone is being trafficked around the globe and there is 40.3 million globally. We love the work of the Freedom Hub who has a Survivor School providing long term support to those effected by modern day slavery in Australia. Sally Irwin also runs workshops and training around the new Modern Slavery Act 2018 and the impact this has on businesses in Australia. Learn more here. We are so honoured to host the Fivers 4 Survivors Day again and can’t wait to calculate the final amount raised on the day; donations are still coming in.Left to right – Yasmin Dale, Kat Millar, Sally Irwin, Kate Taylor and Kerri Olafsen.
