How can you prepare for your next Healthcare & Community service phone & video interview?
I am here to share with you my top tips for your next phone or video interview this is the way of the future so I want to give you some pointers that might help you when you have your next interview.
7 Top Tips for Phone & Video Interviews
Tip 1: I want to encourage you firstly to practice run which technology you are going to be using is it zoom, is it skype, is it Microsoft teams. Actually do a practice run either with a friend of a college who has that platform to actually see if you can get it working. The biggest problem I hear from employers and job seekers when they go for an interview is that they can’t get their technology working there Wi-Fi is not working the video is not on the sounds not great, you name it we hear it.
Tip 2: I want to encourage you to do a practice run because the last thing you want is to get all frazzled and flustered in your interview trying to get the technology working. I do a lot of talks through zoom and other platforms and I find I that I can get quite uptight and anxious if I don’t have the technology sorted prior. That just helps me stay calm and really focused on what I am about to do.
Tip 3: I also want you to roleplay, roleplay prior on your video on your phone if you have no one to do it with. Or a friend or family member can be quite fun. Roleplay a scenario of someone asking an interview question. It could be something like tell us about yourself and your career path that you have done so far.
Tip 4: Think before you speak when answering the questions. Look at the body language of the person you are speaking to you. Are they looking disinterested or you find yourself over talking your answer or just keeping it too brief, You may need to reign it in or expand further too. Check for body cues even on zoom you can see their body language – it’s a little bit harder so you have to be looking for how they are reacting to you answers.

Tip 6: I want you to be confident because it is contagious. I know it might seem over the top or over energetic but they can’t see you in person so you have to be extra energy when it comes to a phone interview. They want to see your passion, your drive, why you care about what you do and why you do the work you do. So make sure that comes across when you share with them. Tip 7: Also project your voice, make sure that you are speaking a little louder than you normally would. Even check the microphone prior to starting the interview because you can do a test run on zoom. You can actually test your voice and the video so make sure the lighting behind you is good. Make sure your voice is good and make sure you project it, don’t be shy. You have to not let the camera make you nervous or anxious you have to just go for it as if you are in the room with that person. If they can see your passion, your drive your able to articulate yourself well. I can guarantee you that you will get through that interview and hopefully get your dream job.
